The Pinot Grigio grape is a relative of pinot noir and the small tight bunches when ripe have an attractive blue/grey appearance, hence the italian name 'grigio (grey) or in french gris. It is an early ripening variety that requires gentle handling to minimise the extraction of colour from the skins.
The wine is made in the northern Italian style, harvested when the fruit is showing ripe pear and zesty citrus flavours. The resulting wine is refreshingly crisp with a flavourful palate. Gentle lees contact has built a soft, savoury texture into the wine which makes it a perfect match with a wide variety of light pasta and seafood dishes.
